Part II: "The Bridge Builder"

He was more seasoned in life now.  Almost jaded.  Daniel's body was beginning to waste away and he knew it.  Sunken eyes, wrinkled skin, exposed joints, all signs of the life he had lived.  That all of mankind lives.

The chasm had seemed to grow over the years along with his age.  Hopelessness engulfed him and despair was his best friend; it had been that way all his life and Daniel saw no reason to change that now.

Throughout time, the chasm had always been there.  Daniel did not know why he was drawn to it, only that he was.  Something was different this time however.  Across the way, a man (or what seemed to be a man from this distance) appeared to be attempting the unthinkable, the impossible.  'Was the man...?'

He was.

Slowly but surely He was constructing a bridge to Daniel's side.  He was crossing the gap.

As Daniel observed the man he settled down into the dry and bitter grass to watch Him continue His work...
